Joining Preschool

Kirkroyds Preschool takes children from age 2 to 5 years. The number of 2 year old places is limited. For the benefit of continuity for the child, we recommend that he/she should attend a minimum of two sessions per week.

The Free Early Education and Care (FEEC) funding allocation of 15 hours commences the term after the child turns 3.  Some working parents will also be eligible for up to 30 hours funded childcare from the term after the child turns 3 - parents must check their eligibility and provide preschool with an eligibility code as soon as the child turns 3. For more information go to The eligibility code MUST be given to preschool the term before funding starts.
Preschool is also registered as a 2 year old provider. To check your child's eligibility for 2 year old funding go to
Funding is only available for 38 weeks of the year ie. term time

If  a child attends Preschool (or Preschool and another setting) for more than their funded hours our current hourly rate will apply. The fees for any extra Preschool hours/sessions will be payable half termly. Children not yet eligible for funding will be charged at our current hourly rate.
We arrange our waiting list in birth order.  Parents may ask for their child's name to be put on the Preschool waiting list, and will be contacted when a place becomes available.  Places for the following term will be offered and agreed during the previous term where possible.  If places are limited (maximum of 24 children per session), additional hours will be offered, in the first instance, to those children already attending.  Priority for new places is then given to the oldest child on the waiting list.  Please note that putting your child's name on the waiting list does not guarantee a place as soon as they are old enough to attend, due to fluctuation of demand for places throughout the year.

Please feel free to contact us and arrange a visit for you and your child.
