Settling Children into Preschool

Once a place has been confirmed you will be contacted to arrange a convenient time for you and your child to spend a session at Preschool.  When children start Preschool parents and carers are welcome to stay to settle their child in. Each child is different and we are fully aware that some children take longer to adapt to new routines than others.

Each child will be allocated a Key Person and a meeting between the parent(s) and the Key Person will take place in the setting within the settling in period. This Key Person will liaise closely with parents about their child's progress and staff are always available to discuss any concerns you may have.  The Key Person is responsible for completing a record of your child's achievement over their time with us. Under the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, we as providers must enable a regular two-way flow of information with parents/carers and other providers. Parents always have access to their own child's achievements record and their input, as their child's first educators is always valued  We also hold an annual Open Evening in the Spring Term.

 Parental Involvement in Preschool

Research has shown, and we strongly believe that, children's learning is enhanced when their parents are actively involved. Parents and carers are encouraged to participate in the life of the Preschool and they are always welcome either to visit for a morning or to help on a regular basis.  Parents are also encouraged to play a part in the management of the Preschool by sitting on the management committee or getting involved in the fundraising committee.
